Imagine a programme leading to a published Poetry Collection by Secondary students . . . imagine this featuring on the shelves of every National Library branch . . . imagine dramatic poetry reading by your students at an elegant public venue . . .
This fun and interactive programme engages students in the sheer pleasure of appreciating poetry in new and different ways, then learning literary and poetic devices and finally combining their imagination and knowledge to craft their own poems.
Students learn the values of poetry traditions and to use them in the poetry they create. Using workbooks rich with a spectrum of poetry and guided by qualified and experienced literature teachers, students craft poems individually and as groups. The process empowers students to create a wide range of poetry expressions, frequently presented dramatically in the classroom.
Language Arts professionally designs a Poetry Collection featuring the best students' work. In association with the National Book Development Council of Singapore this Colletion is launched at the National Library Board presided by NBDC and the school' Principal along with dramatic poetry reading by students.
 Since 2002 Poetry Collections have been published and launched at NLB each year, enhancing the esteem of students, as well as that of their schools, families and their communities.
